Now I resigned a hospital appointment in England to enable me to come to SA; my outfit cost over £30; and while on transport was not entitled to pay so lost 3 weeks' remuneration; in addition many incidental expenses. Asks for salary increase.
17/2/1902: Reply: Refuses. Will give him 15/- pd from date he landed in Cape Town to date of arrival in camp.
