Notes:27/12/1902: Sr May to SRC Springfontein: Re passage home - hopes to get passage money in lieu of passage home. I am most anxious to remain in the country, but it is so unsettled the the meantime, that there is more or less of a risk in remaining. I have sufficient means to keep me going for a few months, but in the event of being unsuccessful, I could not afford to pay my passage home. I understand that it is the desire of the govt to encourage women to come into the country, and I should think they would encourage those who are here to remain, especially as no extra expense is attached to the project. I hope I am not unduly persistent, but wants him to approach Col Wilkins to get passage money.
