Notes:3/12/1901: Telegram, SRC Kimberley to Comfort: I presume there is no intention of superseding Miss Mellor as camp matron please refer to Dr Franks report page 3 line 18 page 4 lines 4 to 13. Miss Mellor has had certain amount of hospital training I greatly wish to retain her services by your Circular 134 matron must be trained nurse.
7/12/1901: Reply: She will not be replaced by one of the nurses from England.

Note that she did not resign on 1/12/1901. See letter of Miss Monkhouse, 14/3/1902, from CT asking that Miss Mellor be allowed to join her in CT, but that she wishes to return to her work in Kimberley. Still hospital matron. She had apparently been ill.
