Notes:12/2/1901: JN Webb to WH Rogers, Central Registration Office, Cape Town: Applying for a civil or military appointment. Was at one time manage of the National Bank, OFS for nearly 8 years. Speaks Dutch and knows both the FS and Transvaal well. After the outbreak of was was a member of the Maritzburg Uitlander Cte and assisted in enrolling of Thornycroft's Mounted Rifles, and Imperial Lt Infantry; did many services as a loyal Englishman. His son was at Spion Kop. Now 17 months since they were thrown out of Johannesburg and finds it difficult to make provision for his family.
