Notes:2/4/1901:Superintendent: has been engaged since refugees arrived there, as custodian of main herd of cattle, and all sheep belonging to refugees; had expected to be paid; had been in the service of the military from the time of the occupation of Bultfontein as Scout Intelligence Officer. He is the only man who will undertake the job, all owners being afraid to go out to the grazing grounds. He is a most reliable man & has the interests of the government at heart. Recommends paid from 12/1/1901.
6/4/1901: Superintendent suggest he be paid 5/- pd.
