Received his medical education at Edinburgh University, qualified as a pathologist, after serving with Edinburgh & East of Scotland Hospital, transferred to Bloemfontein where he became ORC MOH. Held position until 1902. In 1912 he returned to Scotland as MOH of the County of Fife, a position he held until his retirement in 1938. [SAMJ 1955: 29: 758]
