Notes:19/3/1902, Exton, Harrismith, to CSRC: Applying for post in RC. Has now been 2 years in the Military Hospital Service, first at Fort Napier, then at 19 Stationery Hospital, Harrismith. Was in private practice in Bloemfontein where he was Burgomaster for two years; afterwards in practice in Johannesburg and am conversant with the language of the Boers. Notes that tent accommodation is offered but presumes it may be possible to be allowed to provide himself with house accommodation provided that it is contiguous to the work and does not interfere with it efficiency. As he has been two years separated from his family, he mentions this. Has to give 14 days' notice from the army.
