3/2/1902: From SRC: Dr de Kock has had a relapse & will not be able to leave for some time; please send permit for him.
5/2/1902: To Secretary Permits: Please issue permit for Dr de Kock to go to Cape Town & return in 6 weeks.
24/2/1902: From SRC: Dr de Kock is now convalescent & wishes to leave for Cape Town in about 10 days.
1/4/1902: From Dr de Kock: He won't be fit for duty until 1st week in May & wants to know if he will be reappointed as SMO.
10/4/1902: Reply: Will have to serve under Capt King.

3/1/1902: Parry-Edwards to CSRC: Dr de Kock suffering with a mild attack of enteric fever and does not consider he will be able to perform his duties for another ten weeks, granted the patient recovers in the most favourable manner. Dr Clarke, civil surgeon to HM's forces at OR Station has acted as his locum until I receive instructions from you.

24/3/1902: CSRC to de Kock: Has no objection to his wife proceeding to the OR Station camp and residing with you. Wants him to cut holiday short as sickness is on the increase in the OR Station camp.
1/4/1902: Reply: Points out he is not on holiday but on sick leave after rather a severe attack of enteric followed by a relapse, making my illness last for two months; is only about 4 weeks out of bed and has not yet regained his normal strength and health. Under the circumstances could not possibly cut short his sick leave.

10/4/1902: Parry-Edwards, Norvals Pont to SRC, Norvals Pont: Has just received a letter from his old colleague, de Kock (late OR Station RC) in which he states he is anxious to come to Norvals Pont as MO. 'I cannot speak too highly of his services during the time he was MO with me at Orange R. Station RC.'
15/4/1902: CSRC to SRC, Norvals Pont: Cannot transfer him at present as there would be only one MO at OR RC if he were removed; Dr Clarke is only temporary.

10/5/1902: CSRC to SRC, Orange River: Does not require 3 doctors at OR RC; please instruct Dr de Kock to proceed to Kroonstad on his return from Cape Town.
10/5/1902: Telegram: SRC, Orange River to CSRC: Dr and Mrs de Kock arrived last night.
12/5/1902: de Kock to CSRC: Asks for permit for 800 lbs extra luggage, being medical books, instruments and furniture have built own house here what accommodation Kroonstad much wish personal interview may I break journey.
