Notes:31/10/1902: Testimonial: On taking over the camp the condition was very unsatisfactory and the death rate high, but owing to his untiring energy and tact, he has converted his camp into one of the best organised in the ORC. He has won the esteem and affection of all in his camp, officials and refugees, and his loss is much felt by this Department. He leaves as his services are required by the Educational Department.

15/8/1902: Dwyer to CSRC: Has accepted appointment as inspector of orphanages Johannesburg, wants to start on 15 Sept. In rCs has made very improvement he can think of, stores are in a perfect condition, health of the camp is all that possible be desired, only 27 in hospital, and no deaths so far this month. Has started a large vegetable garden and the people are making flower gardens all over the camp. Sorry to leave as the camp work has interested him very much, especially as he had to make a new camp and was allowed a free hand in doing so. Has got on remarkably well with the refugees, and find them grateful for what he has done to help them. Suggests his assistant, Capt I Gray to take over. He is a hardworking, persevering Scotchman very steady in every way.
