Notes:30/9/1901: Sister Ilberry to CSRC: tendering resignation and explaining why, 'as they [other nurses] will not stop here as they have to sweep the boards wash bedpans, when I asked wy the Kaffirs could not do it the Sup Wagner, Said I I ask him he will leave so they don't mind the nurse going. There is another nurse besides myself she is not asked to do the same no night duty but I have had to do it. I am sorry to leave as I was quite willing to stay here but not to do that work. Major Lewis PM and Capt Woodhouse say that I am quite right not to do that work and are sorry they cannot interfere. Here they want the English nurses to do exactly as the Dutch nurses do you cannot put the MO on one equality. I am afraid you will think I only came up here for a time but I can assure you it is no such thing I was quite willing to have stayed 24 months.'

24/9/1901: telegram, superintendent to CSRC: MO reports Mrs Ilberry a positive hindrance & wishes her removed at once.
