Camp History
Name:Kroonstad RC
Date departure:26/3/1902
Reason departure:transferred
Destination:Heilbron
Date appointed (as staff):6/12/1901
Notes:21/3/1902: H Batchelor to CSRC: Asks if she could apply for post of hospital matron when a vacancy occurs. Was appointed camp matron, but finds the work chiefly consists in giving out clothing and acting as store keeper. The two assist camp sisters are fully occupied in their sections of this large camp and the work of measuring off materials and storekeeping is entirely in my hands.
Finds that her large and varied experience in surgical and medical work and hospital organisation is entirely lost. Owing to the pressure of work in this dept and lack of suitable help I have little time to devote to the interests of the people in the camp. In this work I am much interested and am disappointed not to have more time to devote to it. Wants post where she will have more scope for nursing and organising work. Encloses testimonials etc.
