24/8/1901: SRC Kimberley to CSRC: whilst upon the topic of nurses, referring to you letter 1511/01 re Nurse Taylor; it is rather her general disquieting manner, and inability to conform to circumstances, combined with a habit of continually grumbling about everything and everybody with which and whom she is brought in contact, emphasised by tears; than any definite fault that she has committed; the MO agrees with me that there are bad qualities to be found in a nurse, when duties tend to make her emotional. / I am informed by my Native Superintendent that she is not entirely free from the vice of intemperance, which may perchance account for the aforgoing. / I understand that she has previously been tried at two RCs, but without success; is this the case?
28/8/1901: Telegam: Reply: If you find Nurse Taylor unsuitable and you suspect her of drink, she can easily be dismissed. In the meantime, please, keep a careful watch on her and the moment there is anything wrong wire me and I will take steps to get rid of her.
