  • Ephemera
    Documents produced only to be used for a short period of time and then discarded. Lists, invitations, cards, flyers, leaflets, brochures, pamphlets, newsletters, circulars, notes, agenda, telegrams, etc. Since most of these are text documents as well, they are also assigned this media type.
  • Microform
    Microfiche, microfilm, etc.
  • Moving images
    Videos, DVDs, film etc.
  • Posters
    Posters, banners, etc.
  • Publications
    Books, articles, laws, periodicals, etc. Does not include online publications. These come under Web documents.
  • Sound recordings
    Tapes, CDs, interviews etc.
  • Speeches
    Addresses, dedications, seminar addresses, lectures etc.
  • Still images
    Photographs (and negatives), slides, maps etc.
  • Text documents
    Correspondence, constitutions, conference records, media releases, financial records, scrapbooks, reports, minutes, rules/regulations, memoranda, unpublished materials, registers, policies, petitions, resolutions, papers, background records, dossiers, newspaper clippings, legal documents, legislation etc. If it wasn't clear whether certain materials were published or not, they are called text documents. Ephemera which are text documents are assigned both media types.
