Notes:8/3/1801: Walker to Superintendent, Vredefort Rd: asking for extra pay for attending refugees in the camp. Work consists of daily visitation to white refugees, entailing a six mile ride and never less than 3 hours; initiation of a hospital at the camp; daily attendance on sick natives with visits ( when time allows) to many refugee native locations. All this in addition to his ordinary work with the troops.
