5/11/1901: CSRC to SRC, Heilbron: agreeing reluctantly. Copies reply telegram: 'I sincerely trust you will do everything possible to discourage officials of mine trying to get into your service. If I refuse to consent to their going it makes them dissatisfied and you will easily understand how it must upset my arrangements officers leaving me when they are getting to understand their duties.'

9/12/1901: Wagner, SRC, Heilbron to CSRC: recommending Dr Haydon - has worked well since his arrival in Heilbron; expects to receive a permanent position under the Transvaal Administration, so it is hard upon him to bar his career.
