Notes:14/12/1901: F Wilson, Ficksburg to CSRC: Applying for job in camps. Is a fully qualified medical man and practised for many years in SA; for private reasons does not desire a medical post. Has had great experience in managing large bodies of emigrants in the Cunard and Lamport and Holt services; is strictly temperate, in robust health, 49 years old. Can produce good testimonials, can speak & write Dutch and Sesuto, also French & German, can keep books and knows the boers thoroughly. Although not a boer-hater, is not a pro-Boer;
18/12/1902: Reply: offers him post as MO in one of the camps.

28/12/1901: Telegram, Wilson, Ficksburg to CSRC: Accepting post as MO in RC.
5/1/1902: Telegram: Wilson, Ficksburg to CSRC: Open leaving informed must take family with me will cause delay.
Pencil note reply: I cannot do with your family in an refugee camp. Where do you propose lodging them.
6/1/1902: Telegram, Comdt, Ficksburg to CSRC: Dr Wilson is all right his wife is Dutch and pro-Boer. I cannot keep her here whe he is gone as if he is not wit her to look after her she ought to be in a refugee camp. I gave him 10 days after his leaving before I should send his wife away and offered to send her with him.
8/1/1902: CSRC to APM, Bloemfontein: Herewith correspondence from Dr Wilson. Could you allow his wife and family to reside in this town; I urgently require a doctor at the camp here and would be glad if you could see your way to clear this.
Nd: reply: We have quite enough of this sort in town already. Sorry I cannot assist you.
Pencil note: Appointment cancelled. Military will not allow your wife and family to reside in Bloemfontein.
