Notes:January 1902: Sr Bowhill to PMO, Army: Asks to be transferred back to a military hospital section. Before coming to Bethulie was for 18 months at 13 Stationary Hospital, Pinetown Bridge, Natal. In reply to telegram from PMO Natal, volunteered to work in RC and proceeded there 5 weeks ago. Does not wish to continue this work.
6/1/1902: Sr Bowhill to SRC Bethulie: Asks to be transferred back to military service; has occupied post of camp matron, and does not feel she is suitable for the work; also her inability to speak and understand the Dutch language a great disadvantage.
6/1/1902: John E Barrett, SMO to SRC Bethulie: The rough camp life here (with terrific dust storms daily) does not suit here; recommends her resignation.
6/1/1902: SRC Bethulie to CSRC: She is absolutely broken down in health.
