Date departure:12/1/1902
Reason departure:resigned because of ill health
Destination:Cape Town
Notes:12/1/1902: MM Wansbrough to SMO: Resigning as cannot stand camp life and exposure, the incessant walking and hard work due to the illness to a great extent of the nursing sisters. Has had exzema on her hands and feet, making it almost impossible to walk; at night her feet are swollen, probably due to her late attack of enteric.

15/2/1902: M Wansbrough to CSRC: Useless trying to get an answer through camp officials, so writing direct. Resigned her appointment as matron on 12 Jany; has not been off duty but owing to an unfair amount of work, and nursing sisters' illness, could not go on. Was paid on 11th but still waiting for a free pass. Offered a fortnight ago to finish up her 6 months but was told by Dr Tregaskis that he could not alter the information reported to him; seems strange as he had had no complaints.
Belongs to Victoria Nurses' Inst in CT, and would have liked camp nursing with proper help, but always had one sister off duty, and for 10 days the whole staff. Asks if there is a vacancy for a dispenser, as had 2 years experience as matron and dispenser to a hospital, nad had 2 months lessons from a dispenser, though not registered.
18/3/1902: M Wansborough, Victoria Nurses' Inst, CT to CSRC: Still asking for salary to be clarified. Considers she has been repaid poorly for work she did at camp, alone. Only saw the PMO at Heilbron 6 times for 10 minutes at a time - he knows nothing of me.
