Notes:nd: AM McN to Secy, CO: Arrived in England on 18 July by 'Assaye' from Durban and as I cannot stand the winter in England, shall be glad if you can arrange an indulgence passage back to Africa before end Sept. I caught enteric fever while nursing in the RC Harrismith and had a very severe illness and have not been fit for duty since. However I have benefited by the voyage home and the change. But as the summer this year is so cold and changeable I shall be glad to return in a few weeks time. I was not sent out from Englsnd to the camps but was engaged in the country and employed in the camp from 13/5/1901.
12/9/1902: Not recommended.
