Notes:23/7/1901: second time of writing; surrendered voluntarily after occupation of Bloemfontein; granted a pass to stay in town in March 1900. Left there until end November, when he was taken out of Pavey's store, after being in new gaol for 4 days ,was sent to Green Point without a hearing. Kept there for 6 months and then sent to Brandfort Rc. Asks to be allowed to return to Bloemfontein where his family is; has been an inhabitant there for past 7 years; expects to be able to get work there.
